Product Review: Cyleina Black Pearl Soap

Hi Readers!

Here is a new Product review for you all, the Cyleina Black pearl soap. I discovered this soap online because a lot of people are raving about it as an effective whitening soap. Since I just ran out of soap, I thought of trying this one and see if it works. So without further ado, lets’s get to it.

This is a little long overdue because I have used this soap around middle of summer. I have learned through online reviews that Cyleina Black Pearl Soap has this cooling effect upon use so I thought, wow, this is perfect for Summer time! And it’s organic!

Available in two sizes:

Black Pearl Supreme (100grams), P135
Black Pearl Sampler (45grams), P75

I bought the mini size of the soap for trial.

The Package:

From the name itself, it’s black. I like its gold sleek and matte finish design.  The soap is black too which is very unlikely knowing that it is a whitening soap but I like it! It’s catchy and it stands out among other soaps in the rack.

What it claims:

Inspired by the rare beauty of South Sea black pearls, Cyleina endows your skin a luminous clarity using premium and safe skin enhancing ingredients:

  • Collagen supports a smooth, radiant, elastic, and well hydrated skin to slow down the wrinkle formation.
  • Licorice has anti-bacterial and natural lightening complex for clean and fairer skin.
  • Arbutin gently exfoliates dead skin cells and inhibit melanin production for softer and glowing skin.
  • Vitamin E is an anti-oxidant which protects the skin against damage with moisturizing complex for healthy supple skin.

Directions:

Achieve skin as precious as black pearls by daily cleansing wet skin with CYLEINA BLACK PEARL concentrating on darker areas of the body. Rinse well. Use morning and evening for a brighter complexion.

Ingredients:

Sodium Cocoate, Triethanolamine, Glycerine, Distilled Water, Myristic acid, Marine Collagen Peptide, Licorice, Alpha Arbutin, Vitamin E acetate, Peppermint essential oil, Pearl powder perfume, black oxide

Unlike other soaps I tried, this one I can’t cut into pieces. The mini size is a little bigger than the cover of my Canon camera.

I use the soap twice daily on my face and body and let it sit for 2 minutes and then I rinse it off. This is enough time for our body to absorb the soap. I like how smooth and gentle this soap is so I don’t mind using it on my face. What I’ve notice though is, the soap doesn’t lather very well. I personally prefer soaps that give good amount of bubbles because it makes me feel, I don’t know, cleaner, perhaps? Haha! but others do not mind that because according to some, it’s one sign that the soap is pure and has less fillers and additives. As for the scent, it has a very strong strawberry scent for me. Don’t get me wrong because I love the smell of strawberries but this one is very strong and it hurts my nose when I sniff the soap (Yup! I love sniffing soaps) but nevertheless, I don’t mind the scent long as the soap works. The soap isn’t drying my skin unlike Kojie San but I still use my regular lotion after bath to keep my skin hydrated and moisturized.

This is the only soap I am using everyday for 3 straight days. Why only 3 days? Well, sadly my sensitive skin badly reacts to the soap. After 3 days of using it, I got a lot of rashes on my face, arms and legs and they’re so itchy. I do not use any other product aside from my regular lotion that I’ve been using for couple of months so I know the soap was the culprit. The irritation only stopped after a week straight of not using the soap.

Did it work?

Honestly, I don’t know because I have only use it for 3 days. I’m not expecting it to lighten my skin or my dark spots in 3 days. But I was expecting to experience the cooling effect that it claims but there’s none at all. I thought it was only me so I let my mom and my boyfriend use the soap and they said the same thing. No cooling effect at all.

What I like:

  • Availability.
  • Sleek and classy design.
  • Package shows detailed product information including expiry date.
What I don’t like:
  • A little expensive for a soap( Bigger version P135 / Mini version P75)
  • Strong strawberry scent.
  • My sensitive skin reacted to the soap.
  • My skin got irritated and itchy.
  • Gave me rashes on my face, arms, and legs.
  • It leave stains on our soap dish.
  • No cooling effect like what it claims it has.

Where to buy:

Available in all leading supermarkets nationwide, Watson’s and Lazada.

Will I repurchase?

No. The soap is clearly not suited for my sensitive skin.

Final Thoughts:

Cyleina Black Pearl Soap is too harsh for my sensitive skin but still,  we all have different skin types. What did not work for me may work for you, vise versa. I would probably recommend this to people with no sensitive skin and it’s best if you will buy the small size first for trial and see if the soap is suited for your skin. Immediately stop using the product if you experience skin irritation and please religiously follow directions.

Well. That’s it for now! Did it work for you? Lemme know your thoughts on the comment section down below.
