Many people travel to unwind and relax. Some travel for good food and don’t even mind long hour drive to have their cravings satisfied. As for me, it’s a combination of both. But relaxation and good food doesn’t always mean long drive because sometimes there are good cafés just around the corner waiting to be discovered.
Not too far from my hometown, I recently discovered a hidden cozy corner situated in 144 Magnolia Lane, Barangay San Isidro, Gregoria Heights Subdivision, Taytay, Rizal. This private property only started out as a furniture showroom called Stick Designs until its owner’s daughter, Chef Nikki Sambile decided to open up a garden café called The 14 Four Café.
Last weekend, The boyfriend and I decided to visit 14 Four cafe. I quickly placed a reservation through text. I have learned from them that the cafe is a little busier during Saturdays so we had ours booked on a Sunday at 4PM and specifically asked to reserve the table under the colorful lanterns. They are pretty responsive so we were able to close out the reservation in no time.
This hidden gem is the perfect retreat from the noisy and crowded streets of Manila. Not only it is quiet and cozy but what makes this cafe also interesting is its interior designs that is so unique, kitschy and instagrammable. The arrangement of all the pieces were playfully and carefully thought about and it has this kind of a homey vibe as if you’re only hangin’ out in your own garden.
This cafe has indoor and outdoor tables to dine in but we prefer the outdoor vibe.
This café offers wide range of food from breakfast, lunch, to Snacks and desserts.
Mark ordered their Signature Tapa and he loved it. It was juicy and sweet like Tocino. It was indeed delicious and I liked it too!
I love daing na bangus so I ordered their Marinated Bangus. It was okay for me, nothing special to it.
Their Aligue + Tuyo Pasta was okay. It has a distinct taste for me but given that this is their best seller, I was expecting something more. Or maybe I’m not into salty pasta coz I personally like my pasta sweet. Nonetheless, this is still a must-try for those who want a different approach on their pastas
I like their Cinammon Bun Pancake but not so much. If ever I’ll go back, I would try something else.
Mark ordered the Milo Dinosaur and mine was the Calamansi Iced Tea. We both like it. Milo Dinosaur reminds us of our childhood days.
Placing a reservation was easy as ABC. When we got to the cafe, the waitress led us to one of the indoor tables and when a I told her that we got a reservation on the outdoor table, she doesn’t seem to know about the reservation I made. What if the table that we reserved was occupied when we came? It gave me a bad impression with their service. I hope this doesn’t happen to others and that their servers know which table is reserved. Other than that, I love everything in 14 four cafe.
We also find the price a little bit steep for the food but to be able to relax, unwind and enjoy the ambiance made it all worth it. Their choice of music was also a plus because it adds coziness to the place.
Overall, there are so many things to love about this Cafe. I love that everywhere I look is fun and cool. I’m a sucker for arts and designs and this cafe satisfied the artsy side of me. It has personality. I would want to go back here with my Family.
Go check them out now on their social media accounts.
