Product Review: The Face Shop Jeju Aloe 99% Fresh Soothing Gel

And I’m back with another skincare product review and for today’s post, I’ll share with you my thoughts about The Face Shop Jeju Aloe 99% Fresh Soothing Gel.

Aloe Vera is known to have multiple purposes and many great benefits. It was first introduced to me during my high school days when my cousins and I used to put the Aloe Vera leaf extracts to our hair and wounds. I used to love it so I was excited the moment I found out about this huge Korean Aloe Vera tubs.

The Product

It says, the product is formulated with 99% Aloe barbadensis leaf extract from jeju to soothe and moisturize the skin. This gel can be used for various purposes, including moisturizing, soothing, facial pack, and after-sun care. As aloe barbadensis leaf extract is absorbed into the skin without leaving any sticky residue behind, it soothes and moisturizes at the same time. A perfect moisturizer for oily skin you might think.

On the back of the tub it says, it is formulated WITHOUT 5 additives: Paraben, benzophenone, animal oil, mineral oil, artificial coloring.

Ingredients

Well, it claims that it is formulated with 99% Aloe barbadensis leaf extract. so that remaining 1% consists of this massive ingredients list at the back of the tub.

Where to buy?

You can purchase this from any of The Face Shop outlets nationwide. The 300ml tub retails at P195. I purchased mine from their newly opened Market Market branch here in the Philippines and this product sells out super fast and it’s always sold out. The last time I checked, they no longer have the tub version, only the ones in a tube packaging.

Packaging

The packaging looks similar to other Aloe Vera gels available in the market. It’s plastic yet sturdy tub and the lid is tightly closed so you can travel with this without worrying too much on product spillage. Inside, you have another clear plastic lid for more spillage protection. At the back of the tub you have all the product details both written in English and Korean so its easier to understand what the product wants to say. I also like the fact that it has the “Period after opening” or PAO logo at the back of the tub which is 12 months.

Texture/Consistency/Scent

Literally, a gel like texture, slimy and sticky consistency.  This clear Aloe Vera gel has a little bit of artificial leafy scent but it’s refreshing and doesn’t bother me at all.

The Verdict

I purchased The Face Shop Jeju Aloe 99% Fresh Soothing Gel product mainly because I have learned from a Youtube vlogger that Aloe Vera gel helps reduce the appearance of acne marks and get rids of milia. I had a milia, or tiny white bumps under my eyes and given that it is a multi purpose product, I gave it a go because who wouldn’t want to have one product with multiple purpose right? I was torn between this Aloe Vera Gel and the one from Nature Republic but I bought TFS Jeju Aloe 99% Fresh Soothing Gel instead because it is readily available in any The Face Shop physical stores.

I use this every morning and night as my facial moisturizer after applying my serum. My first impression? It’s really soothing and calming because it has a cooling effect upon application however, I find it a bit sticky on my skin. I have also tried using this as a sleeping pack in which I put a generous amount of the gel onto my face and leave it on overnight then wash it off the next day. Another purpose I used this product for is as a body moisturizer. What I do is that after shower while my skin is damp, I’ll apply this Aloe Vera gel all over my body and massage it until it’s completely absorbed by my skin. I’ve even used it as a hand moisturizer whenever I feel like my hands are dry. I guess the only thing I didn’t use it for is as a hair mask.

The big question now is, Do I like it? The answer is YES and NO.

I like it as a facial mask but NOT a sleeping mask because of its cooling effect that gives me an instant relaxing feeling every night. However, I guess this is better off as a wash-off mask rather than a sleeping mask (at least for my opinion) because it is very sticky and it doesn’t get absorbed easily by my skin. Whenever I used this as a sleeping mask, the next morning when I wake up, I still have a lot of gel on my face (I couldn’t sleep comfortably) but after I rinsed it off, my skin is a lot softer and smoother.  (TIP: Put it inside your fridge for extra cooling effect. It’ll give you instant refreshing feeling after sun-exposure.) I also like it as a body moisturizer because I have a very dry skin and it gives me cooling and refreshing effect as well. Surprisingly, my skin on my body absorbs the gel so quickly and doesn’t leave me any sticky residue. I don’t like it as a facial moisturizer because number 1, It doesn’t give me enough moisture and number 2, again, it’s sticky on the face. It didn’t help me remove the tiny bumps on my face either. And lastly, I don’t like it as a hand moisturizer for the same reason that it’s sticky.

Will I repurchase?

Maybe no. Though, I would probably try a different brand of Aloe Vera gel and this time I’ll us it as a body moisturizer or maybe a hair mask. It’s always good to know that you can actually have this multi purpose product for such an affordable price plus, I actually like the refreshing and cooling effect of Aloe Vera Gel so it won’t hurt if I always have a stock of this at home. I haven’t finished my TFS Jeju Aloe 99% Fresh Soothing Gel but I already gave it to my mom.

So that’s it for today’s blog post. Have you tried The Face Shop Jeju Aloe 99% Fresh Soothing Gel? What are your thoughts? Let me know what you think and see you on my next blog post.
